You can switch without a hitch but first generation smart meters revert to dumb status when you move from the supplier who installed it. This just means you will have to read your meter manually.
If you have a SMETS2 meter you will also need to read you meter temporarily. We have commenced the testing of our Smart Meters and are in the early stages of our rollout to a small set of customers. Once we are fully smart we will be able to read your SMETS2 meter remotely.
