If you live in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, North Wales, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire or West Midlands, you may be eligible for a new SMART meter installation free of charge.

Why should I get a SMART meter?
Imagine never having to supply a meter read again. Never needing to reach into an awkward place to get a reading off an outdated ‘dumb meter’. Not having to remember the exact dates to provide your meter readings and then manually submit them to us, just to make sure your bills aren’t estimated.
Well that’s what a SMART meter does. With state of the art equipment, a SMART meter sends electricity and gas readings to us directly on the correct dates. If you choose to have a SMART meter installed, you will also be given an In Home Display device to monitor your usage and see your daily costs down to the penny.

Why are we only installing in these specific areas?
Due to the increased popularity of SMART meters, we are making it a more efficient process by installing in certain areas. If your postcode is not on the list this time round, there is no need to worry as we’ll be opening up to other areas of the country shortly.

I live in one of these postcodes, how do I get a SMART meter installed?
If you do live in one of these areas, you should get in touch with us so we can book a suitable appointment.
On the day, an engineer(s) will visit your property and exchange your old meter for a brand new one. The process only takes around two hours from start to finish so you won’t be required to stay in the property all day, just make sure you are available at your home for the period of your time slot.
If the appointment slot we have given is not suitable, please do get back in touch so we can rearrange to another time.
Time slots will either be AM (08:00-12:00) or PM (13:00-17:00).
Do I have to have a SMART meter installed?
We will never force you to have a SMART meter fitted, it is completely your choice.
If you don’t think SMART meters are for you, don’t worry. It won’t change anything on your account or your bills (but you may be missing out on some of their innovative features).
You don’t need to do anything, however, we and/or SMS may contact you to see if you want a SMART meter. If you don’t want to receive these notifications, you should contact us asking to opt out of SMART meter communications.
